Lenny and his crew were great. Rebuilt and repaired the chimney and fireplace for us. Gave us a really good price!
Lenny and his team performed outstanding work on my leaning chimney. They proposed a couple of different options, were able to find replacement bricks that fairly resembled my “older style” bricks. Their quote was reasonable compared to other contractors and quickly got to work as soon as weather permitted. They also found some cracked bricks that weren’t easy to spot and efficiently replaced them.
We hired Elite Chimney and Masonry for quite a lot of work on a century-old historical house in Highland Park. We highly recommend Elite Chimney and Masonry. (Elite is based in St Charles). They have lots of technical skill and do beautiful, high quality work. The house has an art-like steam bent cedar roof that has to be tip toed around. There are two river stone mason fireplaces, neither of which had been tuck pointed in a very long time. The exteriors of the chimney masonry had large cracks and were leaking through the roof around the chimneys into the attic or staining a cathedral dome ceiling. Lenny and crew tuck pointed the exterior river stone masonry from the crown to the foundation in one case, and from crown to the roof line in the other. Some of the river stones had lost “mortar contact” with the internal brick structure of the chimney, and were practically not attached. Lenny and crew ran internal liners through the old clay tile flues, removed cast iron dampers, parged the smoke chambers, tuck pointed the fire boxes, and sealed the crowns. They also installed dampers and decorative copper caps at the top, which they locally procured for us. They ran gas pipe through a low clearance pier and beam crawlspace, out through a one foot thick foundation, which has 4” stone masonry on the outside, and back into the firebox, with laser accuracy, through tuck pointing between the river stone masonry. They also redid gas pipe for the other fireplace. In addition, they needed to go through a triple wide brick wall in the center of the house to connect the boiler to another liner that they also installed. They connected gas logs and lugged a cast iron fire-back into the fireboxes. In addition, we had them rebuild a century old lime stone step/landing to the front door that was falling apart, splitting due to ice intrusion, etc.
Was very helpful but wasnt what I was looking for.
